Renegade Los Angeles
This past July 24+25, Get Thready appeared at the 2nd annual Renegade LA. The weather was perfect, the music was great, and the people were awesome! It was such a pleasure to meet everyone who came out to support the artists. If you didnt get a chance to make it, you can still visit the Renegade Los Angeles website to see who was there and even check out vendor shops and blogs.

So i’m almost 2 years behind on this awesome post, but it’s too good to let it slide by. Dont be a dummy like me and sell ANYMORE sewn items without labels.
Business cards and hang tags only go so far. Check out this scene from Get Thready and the Tagless Oven Mitt …
[scene opens with Martha entertaining her friend Joan in her kitchen]
Martha, Get Thready customer: “Here Joan, enjoy some warm cookies I just pulled from the oven.”
Joan: “Martha, where on earth did you get those wonderful oven mitts? They are simply daaah-ling.”
Martha: “Someone from Etsy.com, but I forget the name. Threadtastic or something. There isnt a label. What a dumbass”.
Joan: “That’s too bad. I was about to spend my entire inheritance in that very shop for all 7 of my kitchens. Owell. Lets go buy more summer homes instead!” [golf clap].
Im sure this dialogue has taken place before. I kick myself every time it does.
If you’re like me, then you like trying the DIY route before seeking someone else to do things. Business cards for Get Thready are made by Get Thready and they are always a hit! The little personal touches I add to them make people comment on them and remember them. Now, my newest venture is to make my product labels. These are not CPSIA compliant labels (I do not sell items intended for children under 12 years old), just product labels to keep my name fresh in the kitchens of my customers.
Also, I purchased a 72-yard roll of lightweight natural cotton twill tape from twilltape.com for $7.50!! I ordered at 11:30 pm last night and it shipped this morning at 7:30 am. A+ in my book, so far.
I’ll post an update with pics once I make some labels of my own.
Always,
Lauren with Get Thready

What a great way to spend a Sunday in beautiful Southern California.
Sunday, June 6th kicks off the first of two Patchwork Indie Arts & Crafts events in Santa Ana, CA. (RSVP to this event on Facebook)
Sunday, June 27th is the second event in Long Beach, CA (GetThready is honored to be a vendor at the Long Beach show!) (RSVP to this event on Facebook)
At both shows, local goods from over 75 vendors, delicious food, and great music will set the scene for a great day of supporting the handmade movement. Both events are completely FREE to attend and have a wide array of vendors from apparel to accessories to housewares to … everything (even food for the hungries. And we all turn into hungries). You’ve got nothing to lose … except that Sunday monotony. Come be part of a revolution.

The application was sent and Get Thready has been accepted to participate in the 2nd Annual Los Angeles Renegade Craft Fair! It will take place this July 24 + 25 at the Los Angeles State Historic Park and best of all, it is FREE!!!
I got the chance to shop around last year at the 1st Los Angeles Renegade indie craft fair and I was totally blown away by all of the awesome vendors. This year, I get to participate and I couldn’t be more excited! Well … I guess I could always be more excited, but they my head would explode and I’d have absolutely nothing to be excited about anymore. Still moderately excited. :D

Hope to see you there!
Always,

On Tuesday night, I got a chance to attend the book signing of Regretsy: Where DIY Meets WTF featuring the snarky April Winchell. Pick yourself up a copy and get a pair of extra undies ready, ‘cause you gonna mess your pants.
Pictures to come soon!
Spring has sprung at warp speed, and it is already April! So much has happened since the year began and I’m still trying to get everything in order.
In late February, my friend Aida (Eyeduhh) put together (and beautifully modeled) an awesome photoshoot featuring some of my Get Thready items as well as some scrumptious baked good from Nancy of Enchanted Catering

(For some great healthy recipe ideas, check out eyeduhhs youtube channel!)
March appeared on my doorstep with no warning, and with this, it brought The Pink Parlour Festival on Sunday, March 14th at The Santa Anita Racetrack…

I’ve been cutting up a storm recently in preparation for The Pink Parlour Festival taking place on Sunday, March 14th 2010 at the historical Santa Anita Race Track. Lots of awesome vendors will be there selling all different types of items.
I attended last year (the FIRST year!) and had such a good time getting around to the different booths and seeing familiar faces from the area, as well as meeting people not from the area. I was accepted for 2010 and could not be more excited about it.
From the inventory list to the display design to the little details like business cards, it’s been quite a task!

The first picture is the Sweet Tweet White Potholder. This print also comes in yellow & black, but no matter what color, it is always a crowd pleaser. The second one is hte BBQ Bandit Oven Mitt. This was one of my first oven mitts I made and I was so excited! It was listed in my Etsy shop for a short while before my boyfriend picked it out for his new kitchen. It has since been acompanied by the BBQ Bandit potholder. I hope to make more items with this print since it seems to appeal to males.
